Hello lovely! Now that we have passed six weeks of sheltering in place due to the Corona virus outbreak, how are you managing? Friends, family and clients have been sharing with me that they have been ‘hitting a wall’, which is totally understandable in these challenging times. Your Mental Wellness Matters!
The other day my son Will asked me whether I was worried about the Covid-19 outbreak, to which I replied ‘No.’ I asked him whether he was, and he said ‘Yes’ and went on to explain that he thinking about all the people who could not get food and were losing their jobs. (While Steve and I had been watching the news the other night he had overheard the PBS story about the large numbers of people in the U.S. that are now out of work and accessing food banks due to the Covid-19 situation.)
I told him I did share his concerns but that the governments were doing all they can to assist their people, and that we as a family were doing what we can to help others. Things like our monthly contribution to our Plan International foster child in Kenya (Uba) and by other charitable contributions and volunteering.
The World’s Woes Are Too Much For You
I discussed with Will how taking on the worries of the world was not healthy and it would better serve him to focus on staying optimistic, because a positive outlook keeps you healthy and strong and as such, better positioned to assist others.
‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’ as the old saying goes!
