Do you ever feel so uncomfortable saying ‘no’, that you end up saying ‘yes’ because you don’t want to make waves, or make the other person feel bad?
If so, you are not alone!
How are you doing my friend?
If you are Canadian, hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving long weekend and if you are from someplace else I hope you are having a fabulous October.
I am loving the colours this autumn and last weekend for our Thanksgiving dinner (pic below), I used some pale bluey / green, white and orange pumpkins, along with dried sage, chestnuts we found, and the last of my dahlias, to decorate our front door and tables for our turkey dinner.
It was a busy weekend for us but we all enjoyed getting together with 18 family members to eat some delicious food and celebrate all we are thankful for, and then to chillax the next day on the holiday Monday.
All I can say is that I had my feet up for most of the day!
But now to the topic at hand…
So, are you a ‘people pleaser’?
The other week I had a client say to me;
“There are some people that you just cannot say ‘no’ to”.
Hmmm….
Nope.
Not buying that.
Everyone has the right to say ‘no’ at any time and to any person!
I know that often saying ‘no’ is hard, we don’t want to hurt people’s feelings, we don’t want to seem confrontational, we just want to get along with everyone.
But this is real life and real life means having difficult conversations and saying tough things (such as ‘no’) if we want to protect ourselves, our energy and our souls.
How to cure the ‘disease to please’
I have created a brand new YouTube video that discusses why saying ‘no’ is a must for a happy life and in the video I also share the #1 reason why people fall into ‘people pleasing’ mode.
Can you guess what it is?
